360 GL B200K engine swap??
« skrivet: november 21, 2011, 02:54:34 »
Well, hey guys! since i can´t understand swedish i think this is as close as it gets.
but i was wondering of doing a engine swap in my car. its a early 1986 360GL B200K and i wonder would a B230 fit? (no turbo) with the same bolts and everything? or would it need custom fitting? i cant weld or anything so it has to be easy work for a garden mechanic :p hehe

have a good one
Cheers Emil.

Welcome to out forum :)
As long as you don´t swap to an turbo engine you dont need to customise any fittings.
All b2xx blocks have the same casting. The only major difference between them are the bore measurements.

You need to swap the oilpump, oilpan and the flywheel with clutchdisk on your b230 engine, and don´t forget to plug the block mounted dipstick because all oil pans from 300-series has it monted in the oil pan itself. Kind of obvious when you have the two engines in front of you. But its good to notice you before you start to disassemble your car.

Sorry for my rusty grammar :)

Is fuel efficiency a factor? A 190 hp B20 isn't cheap to run, if it was my car i would go with the B230A (carburator) or maybe the F-model (Injektion) if i hade the electrical wireing already in my car because it's a much more modern engine with it's low friction bearings etc.
